MSU opens up the season against the LSU Tigers who will bring a very tough team to Starkville as always. Coach Les Miles and his squad have their sights set on the BCS National Championship Game. Week two sees State travel to New Orleans - home of the Nokia Sugar Bowl - to battle the Tulane Green Wave.
The Bulldogs continue with a week three test on the road against the Auburn Tigers and Tommy Tuberville's tough team. MSU finally gets the opportunity to return home to take on Gardner-Webb before heading out on the road once again to test their luck against Steve Spurrier and his South Carolina Gamecocks.
Then it's back to Starkville for two home games in a row, the first against the UAB Blazers from Birmingham. UAB has replaced Watson Brown and will have a new head coach this fall. The following week State plays host to the always-powerful Tennessee Volunteers, whom they lost to the last time the Vols paid a visit to the MSU campus.
Sylvester Croom's team will then close out the month of October will a road jaunt to play the West Virginia Mountaineers, who have their sights set on a trip to the Fiesta Bowl, or maybe even the Orange Bowl.
The next week has State tripping to take on the Kentucky Wildcats, who are looking to make a return trip to a bowl game in 2007.
November begins with a home contest against the Alabama Crimson Tide and their brand new head coach, Nick Saban. A road trip to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks precedes the annual Egg Bowl showdown. That contest will take place against the Mississippi Rebels on the day after Thanksgiving.
Should the Bulldogs find their 2007 season successful, they could be set up for an appearance in this year's SEC Championship Game.
